An award may be handed out in a few seconds.

The story behind it takes much longer to build.

Across Manitoba, that story has taken shape through employees volunteering their time, coaching local teams, fundraising for causes close to home, organizing events, and finding countless ways to contribute beyond their day-to-day roles.

Those efforts have earned HyLife the Community Engagement Award from Food & Beverage Manitoba.

Food & Beverage Manitoba is an industry-led, not-for-profit association that has served the province’s food and beverage sector since 1993. Its membership spans businesses and organizations throughout the industry, from producers and processors to retailers, suppliers and multinational companies, with a mandate focused on strengthening Manitoba’s food and beverage sector.

The Community Engagement Award was presented as part of the organization’s 2026 Totally Awards Gala, which recognizes achievement across Manitoba’s food and beverage industry.

For HyLife, this designation reflects both the individual contributions of employees and larger initiatives aimed at strengthening the places where they live and work.

This year, the company partnered with the HSC Foundation to invest $100,000 in life-saving medical technology. Through the annual Fun Days initiative, employees and generous business partners also contributed more than $90,000 to local organizations, including food banks, a food delivery vehicle, and gathering spaces in places our team members call home.

But the story is bigger than any one donation, event, or project.

It is found in the people who continue to show up.

“At HyLife, giving back is simply part of who we are. Many of our employees tell us they joined HyLife because they wanted to work for a company that cares about more than business. They wanted to be part of something bigger, and every day they bring that commitment to life by volunteering, fundraising or coaching in their own hometowns. This award belongs to them,” shared Rejean Vielfaure, VP of Strategy and Business Development.

That sentiment captures what the award represents.

Behind the larger initiatives are employees who volunteer after work, spend weekends coaching, organize fundraisers, serve on committees, and lend their time to organizations that matter to them. Business partners also play an important role, extending the reach of many initiatives through their generosity and involvement.

The award may carry the company’s name, but it reflects the actions of many.

To every employee, volunteer, organizer, business partner, and local organization that has played a part, thank you.
