We Focus on the Fat
Iodine Value Product (IVP) is a measurement that sets our premium pork products apart from our competitors. IVP is a measurement of unsaturated fat composition. We rely on this measurement in both our feed and in our products. Why? Because low IVP values are consistent with the quality of pork we strive to produce in every pig.
Low IVP is associated with bright, rich, and firm fat that is like butter; rich in taste and firm to touch. High IVP is associated with yellow, pale, and soft fat that is like oil; weak in taste and greasy to touch.
Pork quality starts with feed. Our fully integrated approach allows us to control all our feed production and feed programs at our farms, mills, and barns. This means everything our pigs eat positively impacts the quality of our products.
Never Compromise on Quality
HyLife operates in the heart of North American farmland. Low IVP values are directly linked to a grain-based diet. HyLife’s geolocation enables the company to successfully deliver on our customers’ high standards.
In 2008 we aligned our genetics to the Japanese LWD model (Purebred Duroc and Landrace / Large White Crossbred). LWD selection by HyLife ensures product contains optimal marbling, colour, and pH levels.

Ethical animal care and quality of life for our animals is also essential to achieve high quality pork. Respecting animals is a core value we live by every day. Farm production managers are a part of our conversations with customers so that they relay the importance of animal care throughout our production system. This includes low-stress transportation methods between our sites to keep our overall stress low.
Cold, Clean, Correct
Our processing standards are of the highest in the world. We use the term Cold, Clean, and Correct when referring to our processing operations. Cold represents specific product cooling throughout our entire supply chain, including coolers, cut floors, warehouses, and transport trailers. Clean represents our commitment to hours of thorough sanitization throughout all of our processes. Correct is our commitment to getting things right. Our quality assurance team is continuously conducting inspections on all of our production lines to make sure that our product meets the highest standards.
Lastly, we are able to provide traceability of all our pork products. We are able to track every step from the feed, farm, plant, and packaging displayed at the meat counter.

We decided it was time to share what we do with communities close to home, as we’ve done successfully in Japan since 2017, delivering our products at the highest standard through our Tokyo restaurant, HyLifePork Table.
