With winter hitting the Canadian prairies, we are commitment to road safety by leveraging an innovative driver simulator tool designed to prepare our fleet for challenging driving conditions.

The 53-foot trailer, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, offers drivers a realistic experience to hone their skills across various road scenarios. Purchased in 2023, this simulator provides an innovative solution to educate drivers on techniques that can mitigate incidents and accidents, underscoring our dedication to safety and excellence.

“In the face of unpredictable winter conditions, it’s crucial for our fleet to be well-prepared,” said Ron Schellenberg, Chief Supply Chain Officer, HyLife. “Our investment in the driver simulator highlights our commitment to being a responsible corporate steward and ensuring our team is ready for what is ahead. We share the roads in our communities, and the main goal is always a safe drive.”

The simulator uses a points system to evaluate drivers, offering instant feedback on performance to foster continuous improvement. Since its rollout, all HyLife drivers have undergone the digital exercise in addition to their extensive training. More than 160 drivers have benefited from the tailored scenarios that challenge their abilities while promoting safe driving practices.

“We’re thrilled to offer this opportunity, not only to our team but also to the media,” added Sean Mitchell, Driver Relations Supervisor, HyLife. “We invited reporters to experience firsthand how this tool enhances driver readiness and safety.”

This initiative reflects our commitment to innovation and our dedication to fostering a culture of corporate social responsibility. HyLife remains one of the few employers in Manitoba to leverage such advanced technology and the only company to have created a mobile training classroom, setting a benchmark for safety standards in the industry.

As we continues to upgrade training scenarios, HyLife remains dedicated to evolving with the needs of its fleet and community.
