Our HyLife Holiday Helpers marked the third year of giving back with compassion, dedication, and a focus on helping those who need.

This proud tradition, embraced by employees and partners alike, is about living out HyLife’s core values and strengthening their role as community partners. Kevin Barkman, Senior Vice President of Infrastructure and Environmental Affairs at HyLife, praised the team’s commitment.

Our team stepped up this year. Donations came in from every department and every team—it was a true group effort. As a food company, we know food insecurity is very real. We are proud to be part of the solution by giving back to ensure families have food on their tables this holiday season.”

Employees across HyLife locations, including Steinbach, Neepawa, Killarney, Kola, and even Leroy, Saskatchewan, came together again this year. Over the next week, donations will be dropped off at local food banks in each area.

“From our barns, to feed mills, to plant and offices, the call to “Give what you can” sparked generosity, proving that no donation is too small when it comes to making a big impact,” shared Sheldon Stott, Senior Director of Corporate Sustainability, HyLife.

Partnering With Earls Meat Market

Continuing with a strong partnership, we collaborated with Earls Meat Market to donate 2,500 pounds of premium pork. The team at Earls worked tirelessly, like holiday elves, to transform the donation into 1,900 sausages—equivalent to approximately 1,600 feet if linked end to end!

Earl Funk, owner of Earl’s Meat Market, expressed the importance of this initiative.

“It is a great privilege for Earls Meat Market and staff to share our gift of making sausage with the community. We believe everyone deserves a wonderful Christmas, and this partnership with HyLife is one way we can contribute. This year, we even made some heart-shaped farmer sausage rings, which signifies how this effort comes from a very caring place.”

This festive gesture not only provided additional protein, which is always in high demand for food programs but also stood as a meaningful symbol of care and community.

The HyLife Holiday Helpers initiative has become a proud tradition for us at HyLife, uniting employees, partners, and communities during the holidays. Our 2024 efforts reflect a commitment to supporting those in need and shining a light on the heart and generosity of their team members and partners like Earls Meat Market.
