HyLife Fun Days 2024 Supports Local Charities Across Manitoba
Imagine a weekend where community spirit, joy, and generosity come together to create lasting impacts. That’s exactly what HyLife Fun Days 2024 delivered in three vibrant Manitoba communities—La Broquerie, Neepawa, and Killarney. What started as a simple employee get-together has evolved into a major event, raising more than $1.7 million for local charities over the years.
“The legacy gifts we provide to local causes symbolize our commitment to making a lasting impact. We are incredibly proud of what HyLife Fun Days has become—a celebration of our employees, business partners, and communities,” said Kevin Geisheimer, Director of Marketing and Communications, HyLife.
Fun Days 2024 has continued its tradition of giving back by donating nearly $50,000, with $15,000 going to three deserving local charities. This year’s recipients include Habitat for Humanity Neepawa, Kola Rec Centre, and La Broquerie Helping Hands.
Habitat for Humanity Neepawa
“This is a game changer for the families, the community, and our organization that is just starting out,” said John Lavich, the chapter’s chair and a 37-year veteran of the construction industry.
Neepawa’s first Habitat for Humanity chapter is on a mission to provide affordable housing to the community. With plans to begin constructing their first home in Spring 2025, the $15,000 donation from HyLife Fun Days is a significant boost.
“Neepawa is growing, and there is a need for more housing. We can’t do it alone, so our group got together. I visualize handing the keys over and the family stepping into their own home, having collaborated and put in the sweat equity to see it to the end,” said Lavich.
Kola Rec Centre
The Kola Rec Centre is a focal point for community life in Kola, Manitoba. The facility is a beloved space for families, yet the building is in need of repairs. The $15,000 HyLife Fun Days donation will help fund these crucial renovations or possibly go towards a rebuild with a vision of offering multisports under one roof.
“We want a legacy building here for the next 50-plus years. We want to bring the community together and keep growing,” said Adam Bajus, representing Kola Rec Centre. “Winter is long and cold in Manitoba, and an indoor space where kids and families can get off iPads and play is essential.”
La Broquerie Helping Hands (LHH)
In the heart of La Broquerie, Manitoba, La Broquerie Helping Hands (LHH) has supported families navigating food insecurity since its inception in April 2024. Averaging 40 hampers every two weeks, LHH has supported more than 200 people in the town and surrounding communities. The $15,000 donation from HyLife Fun Days will be used to stock food supplies.
“I tried to be calm and collected on the phone, but I was really jumping around dancing,” shared Jocelyn Gautier, Board Member of La Broquerie Helping Hands. “I feel like this is more than food; this is support and building community. At the end of the pick-ups, when the families thank us and go on their way with food, it motivates us; it drives us.”
Congratulations to each recipient group for 2024; your work strengthens our communities.
