At HyLife, we’ve always believed in taking care of each other.

This time around we gave our Volunteer of the Year Awards a supercharged new identity: The Hometown Hero Awards!

Every day, our team members across our operations find meaningful ways to support the people, causes, and communities they call home.

We are excited to recognize 2 outstanding individuals as our Hometown Heroes — employees who quietly lead with heart, inspire others through action, and truly live our value of taking care of each other. In the spirit of paying it forward, each Hometown Hero received $1,000 to donate to a charity of their choice, supporting causes that matter most to them.

As a leader at work and at home, Melanie Delco believes that giving back starts with setting an example. As a mother of three, her volunteer efforts are rooted in showing her children that kindness, service, and helping others matter.

From driving her kids to countless hockey, baseball, and volleyball games, to helping at rink booths and cooking meals for church and fundraising events, Melanie is always there when her community needs support. Her hometown holds a special place in her heart — a place she describes as united, caring, and grounded in looking out for one another.

Melanie sees a strong connection between her personal values and HyLife’s commitment to caring for employees and communities. Volunteering has shaped her leadership style, teaching her the importance of listening, teamwork, and supporting others whenever possible.

“I want my kids to see that helping others is just part of life.” Melanie shares.

Charity Choice: Holy Rosary Parish
Melanie’s donation will support programs that strengthen families, provide spiritual care, and assist those in need within her community.

For Geoffrey Juaneza, being a Hometown Hero is about showing up — consistently and with purpose. Growing up in the Philippines, helping others was part of everyday life. That mindset carried with him to Canada and found a natural home at HyLife, where community and collaboration are deeply valued.

Geoffrey is a passionate advocate for mental health and community connection, especially among fellow Filipinos navigating life far from home. Through coaching basketball at Neepawa Area Collegiate and organizing local basketball initiatives, he helps young people build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

One of Geoffrey’s most meaningful experiences comes from watching his teams persevere — often against bigger opponents — supported by a town that shows up with heart and pride. To him, that’s what makes Neepawa special.

“You don’t need a big platform to make a difference — just show up.” Geoffrey shares.

Charity Choice: Ronald McDonald House Charities
Geoffrey chose this organization to support families during some of their most difficult moments, ensuring they can stay close when it matters most.

Celebrating Everyday Heroes

HyLife’s Hometown Heroes remind us that heroism doesn’t require a cape — just compassion, commitment, and a willingness to care for others. Their stories reflect the powerful ripple effect of giving back and the positive impact one person can make in their hometown.

We are glad to celebrate Melanie and Geoffrey, and grateful for the many ways HyLife employees continue to strengthen the communities where we live and work.

Because at HyLife, real heroes show up — every day.
