HyLife Holiday Helpers Gives Back to Communities in Need this Holiday Season
At HyLife, we consistently strive to give back to the communities in where we live and work. This holiday season, we set out to collect donations of non-perishable foods and personal care products for food banks in the local communities across various locations.
Our HyLife Holiday Helpers campaign was a huge success and allowed us to donate more than 1,000 pounds of food and care products to seven food banks: Windom Area Sharing Center, South East Helping Hands in Steinbach, Salvation Army in Neepawa, Killarney Food Bank, Humboldt District Food Bank, and Virden and Area Food and Cupboard.
Christine Egers, with the Windom Area Sharing Center, has been volunteering at the local food bank since 2000. She is a selfless community leader and was thrilled to welcome HyLife Windom as they dropped off 130 pounds of much-needed food and health products.
“It helps out a lot this time of year when everyone needs food,” Christine shared. “We were pleased to discover that they even had enough hams to give out to everyone in need this year for Christmas dinner.”
The team in Neepawa partnered with the local hockey team, the Neepawa Titans, to deliver their donations to the Salvation Army and in Killarney, a remarkable 500 pounds of items were donated. Our Head Office team, including a very determined finance group, also collected more than a truck load of items to support South East Helping Hands in Steinbach
The giving continued, with our annual donation of 2,500 pounds of pork to South East Helping Hands. CEO, Grant Lazaruk, made a special visit to Earls Meat Market to thank owner, and Steinbach Mayor, Earl Funk, for turning HyLife pork into sausages for Christmas Hampers.
“We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the help. The need is here and real in this area. We come together to give to our neighbours,” shared Hank Klassen, Board Chairman, South East Helping Hands.
As a food company, it is important for us to acknowledge the challenges of food security especially this time of year. According to National Geographic, the demand for hunger relief organizations has been increasing to rates at about 50% higher than before the COVID-19 outbreak. HyLife is proud to support our communities in this way, and have enjoyed seeing the positive impact our collaboration has made.
