Who We Are

HyLife is committed to providing high quality food while retaining the values that have seen us through since the beginning. As an integrated company, we make sure that the premium pork product on your plate is the result of a trusted food source.

Our History

In 1994 in Southeast Manitoba, three Vielfaure brothers (Paul, Denis and Claude) and Don Janzen joined resources to fulfill a common vision: create the most efficient, integrated operating structure for the production of hogs.

HyLife by the Numbers

HyLife is so much more than numbers… although the numbers are fairly impressive! Our people, perseverance, integrity and exceptional partnerships have led HyLife to become Canada’s leading pork producer and global exporter of high quality pork products – a distinction on which we can’t place enough value.

We've Grown

All our hard work is paying off – as a result, we need to think about the future. The growing demand for our pork in Japan and China means we are ready to give the world more of what HyLife™ has to offer. We have recently expanded our Neepawa plant, constructed and acquired additional barn operations, and purchased a second plant in Minnesota. All to increase our overall production and meet the demand for our products.

This included:

  • New buildings that increased the cut floor, packaging, palletizing, and chilling areas and a separate building for cold storage
  • Innovative equipment to help us improve our processes, our yields and shelf life of our product
  • Construction and purchase of new finishing barns
  • Construction of a new feed mill closer to our barns in Southwestern Manitoba
  • Purchase of ProVista sow, nursery, and finishing barn operations in Manitoba
  • Purchase of pork plant in Windom, Minnesota
  • Creation and addition of over 1,000 new jobs

Strategic Partnerships

HyLife seeks out new business relationships and engages in strategic partnerships to broaden our capabilities and scope within the industry worldwide. For example, our partnership with the Tianzow Food Company in China marks HyLife’s first venture into the Asian marketplace, and shows our commitment to developing into a global market force.

In 2015, HyLife also established a presence in Mexico through a partnership with an established Mexican company, Avoir. This joint venture owns and operates a plant in the state of Guanajuato, which further processes pork primals and by-products for Mexico and select offshore markets.

With confidence in our superior product, which matches the growing demand in China for high quality safe foods, HyLife Shanghai will continue to lead future projects in this area.

In September of 2016, we opened the doors to our very own HyLife Pork Table restaurant in the trendy district of Daikanyama Tokyo, Japan. Our Japanese customers have very high standards for their pork. With our dedicated HyLife team, we set out to provide Japanese customers with a product that is equal in taste to the Japanese product.

HyLife Pork Asia is a symbol of HyLife’s commitment to the Japanese market. HyLife Pork Asia consists of two facilities, the HyLife Pork Asia office and HyLife Pork Table (restaurant and brand shop), both located in the affluent Daikanyama neighbourhood in central southwest Tokyo, Japan. We ensure to let customers know that our hard-working team back home is dedicated to producing a product second to none. Our goal with HyLife Pork Table is not to start a chain of restaurants, but to become Canada’s number one fresh chilled pork exporter to Japan, something we have already achieved. Read More on HyLife Pork Table’s grand opening.
