HyLife HyFive Community Run

HyLife’s very first 5k run/walk was a true success!

On Saturday, June 11th, 2022, the community of Windom, Minnesota gathered downtown to take part in the HyLife HyFive Community Run; an initiative to give back to the town where our United States’ plant is located, and many employees call home.

After connecting and listening to community members, we heard that a 5k run/walk would be a great opportunity to have people gather and promote health and wellness. Throughout the past year, our HyLife employees also began taking an interest in participating in local races around the Windom area. As more runners began to join, a team known as the “HyLife Wild Hogs” was formed. The group enjoyed running together and were thrilled to hear that HyLife would be creating our very own 5k.

That’s how the HyLife HyFive Community Run was born.

“One of our Core Values is being a strong and active Community partner and helping to fundraise for the ‘Be Well Path’ is a great way for HyLife to support the Windom community and promote well-being for citizens of Windom and our employees! This activity also exemplifies our ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ belief, too,” shared Tom Seigfreid, CFO & Senior Director of Business Operations.

The race vision was to create an exciting and fun atmosphere. Dominic Jones, Mayor of Windom, got up early and shared a few words before doing the official 5, 4,3,2,1, countdown.

“The City of Windom is so proud to have HyLife in our community, and it’s going to be my honor today to start the race, shared Jones.

The energic group of runners, 268 registrants in all, took off and the Windom Fire Department sounded their fire engine sirens, lights, to lead the way.

“I cannot help being very proud about what our team has accomplished. I must admit that it’s a very pleasant ‘Get’ ‘er done’ feeling! Watching our coworkers mingling and having a great time with the townspeople was also very gratifying for me. This race embodied what HyLife stands for: healthy lifestye, teamwork, empowering our employees and of course; HyLife’s commitment to our communities. I am very proud to be part of this great company that really makes a difference,” shared Eric Gendreau, Job Skills Trainer and Race Committee Lead.

Proceeds raised through race registration are being donated to the Windom Area Health Foundation where they will use the funds to make additions to the Be Well Path. The path is open to the public and offers wellness equipment. Kim Armstrong, Executive Director of Compliance and Foundation/Auxiliary, shared that they would use our donation to purchase new equipment to go along the path.

Community contributions, that will be enjoyed and last long after the HyLife HyFive Community Run has wrapped up.

HyLife is immensely grateful to our employees and the community members who came out to support a worthy cause and promote wellness.
